Note from Tom:
We all know that our lives have been changed for now and for some time to come by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. It has altered the way we interact and conduct our lives and run our businesses. This “temporary normal” may be with us for a while until vaccines and treatments are available and widely distributed. I hope this finds all of you and your families healthy and safe.
In the meantime, we have an opportunity to update the way we run SAGGA to make it a more effective organization, especially during these strange times we are living through. Recent meeting attendees and the Board of Directors discussed ways to have meetings through year-end without having to gather together in an in-person setting. Here is the meeting schedule we will be following through year-end.

We left the December meeting in a TBD status in case we figure out a way to safely have our traditional in-person Holiday celebration, elections, etc.
We will be opening the Zoom meetings to all SAGGA members and to all prospective members on our mailing list for the balance of this year. If done well, the Zoom format will show how we can reach members and potential members across the AVA with interesting and pertinent information about how to grow high quality wine grapes and bring them to market. This value of membership should bring new members for next year. While a Zoom meeting can’t replace a hand-shaking, back slapping in-person meeting, it does allow communication in a more organized and personal fashion than a conference call. Guests can make presentations on Zoom and we can even have a virtual wine tasting if we so choose. Also, we could also be able to resurrect our education program in a virtual setting.
For those who have not participated in a Zoom meeting before, it will be helpful for you to find and read or view tutorials at www.zoom.us. There are also plenty of other Zoom tutorial resources on YouTube. It is an easy meeting format to participate in. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a meeting invite to sign in.
